Pit Pony is a 1997 television film directed by Eric Till. It was Elliot Page's debut role; Page was scouted for it by John Dunsworth, who also had a small role in the film. The film was based on the novel Pit Pony by Joyce Barkhouse. It was nominated for numerous Gemini Awards in 1997.

Pit Pony plot. Willie's father is a miner, just as his father had been. Willie and his brother are expected to be nothing more than that. But Willie is different and abhors the idea of having to go into the mine. However, he goes to work for the Ocean Deeps Mining Company where he and his pony eventually have to win the respect of the other miners.
