   Is platoon a good movie?

   • Platoon is a powerful war film starring Charlie Sheen and Willem DeFoe. A film that depicts the best and worst of humanity Platoon is also an excellent action film. 10/10 from me. Another brutal and hellish war depiction, I really enjoyed all the characters, honestly Sheen's was probably the worst or least interesting of the bunch.

   • If Apocalypse Now and The Deer Hunter are like slaps to the face, Platoon is a punch to the gut. Of all the movies inspired by the Vietnam War this is one of the most compelling. From the point of view of a young recruit, he revealed that the worst enemy was not only in the trench, but also in the mirror.

   Is platoon an anti war movie?

   • Platoon isn't an anti war movie and it certainly does not glorify war in anyway, it is simply how war is in its entirety. There are some shocking scenes such as the one in the Vietnamese village but there are also more light hearted moments such as where the troops on Dafoe's side are partying and having a good time.
