Raza is the son of late Bollywood actor Murad. He belongs to a Muslim family. He started his acting career at the age of 15 by playing the role of young Rahim in the Bollywood film Johar-Mehmood in Goa (1965). He acted in more than 200 Bollywood films.

The first cousin of the renowned yesteryear actress Zeenat Aman, Raza Murad made his debut on the silver screen with Johar-Mehmood in Goa (1965) where he had a small supporting role as Rahim. Some of his most notable films include Mohra (1994), Gupt: The Hidden Truth (1997), and Laawaris (1999).
