Set in the 1920s in Chicago, Illinois, the series centered on Linc McCray and his uncle Latzi who worked as partners in a speakeasy, but a small-time gangster named Nick Marr wants to take it over.

"The Chicago Teddy Bears" was intended as a comeback vehicle for Ann Sothern (whose last regular role had been as the voice of "My Mother the Car").
Sothern played a street flower vendor in the pilot and was meant to be a mediator between Linc McCray and Nick Marr; however, Syndication wrote her out of the actual series.
