Say what you want about 1994's trims and changes, it told a story. Character Focus: 2020 looks down at the bloody stump that was once its right foot, then doubles down and blows off the left. Harold is the protagonist of the story. Stu is basically there to be a foil for him.

Changes to the story and changes to the cast are to be expected. Some worked and some didn’t but there’s one primary complaint I have about the 2020 version of The Stand.
If you can, read or listen to The Standin its entirety. It is a masterpiece and a great study in character development. If you’re not into reading and would rather see an adaptation, the 1994 version stills hold up quite well to the original story.
