  2. Dec 14, 2022 · Finding parking at Torrey Pines State Reserve is one of the biggest challengings, especially in the summer. Parkings fill up very fast. Luckily, if you don’t mind walking, you have some more options. The closest parking to Torrey Pines State Reserve is the South Beach lot.

    You don't need any special hiking gear for Torrey Pines, you can get away with workout clothes. If you're thinking of swimming, the hike does go down to the beach at one point. If you're not from the area, you might not know that the Pacific Ocean is usually pretty cold. You can take a dip if you hike in a bathing suit, but it'll be chilly.

    Stay away from the cliff walls. They do break off and fall. There have been fatalities in the area from cliffs falling. If you're tired and want to end the hike here, go straight for about 0.75 up the Beach Trail to reach the parking lot.

There are two parking options within the State Park at the south end of the beach.
