Vladimir Valeryevich Salnikov (Russian: Владимир Валерьевич Сальников; born 21 May 1960) is a Russian former freestyle swimmer who set 12 world records in the 400, 800 and 1,500 metre events.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Vladimir Salnikov was considered the greatest long-distance swimmer of his era, and some consider him the greatest ever. During his career Salnikov competed at three Olympic Games, three World Championships and three European Championships.

Vladimir Salnikov (born May 21, 1960, Leningrad, Russia, U.S.S.R. [now St. Petersburg, Russia]) is a Russian swimmer who won four Olympic gold medals and was the first to break the 15-minute barrier in the 1,500-metre freestyle.

Vladimir Salnikov is a swimmer who has competed for the Soviet Union. He competed at the 1976, 1980, and 1988 Summer Olympic Games. At his first Olympics in 1976, Salnikov finished fifth in the men's 1500 metres freestyle with a new European record time, missing the podium by fifteen seconds.
