What Price Beauty? is a 1928 American silent drama film directed by Tom Buckingham and starring Nita Naldi, Natacha Rambova and Pierre Gendron. Shot in May 1925 but not released until January 1928, [ 1] the film features the future star Myrna Loy in a small role.
Wholesome country girl, Mary, works at the 'House of Magic' beauty salon and pines for the dreamy owner, Clay. Unfortunately Clay has also been targeted by experienced vamp, Rita, who has him set firmly in her improper sights.

Her first film was a small part in the production of What Price Beauty? (1925). Later she appeared the same year in Pretty Ladies (1925) along with Joan Crawford. She was one of the few stars that would start in silent movies and make a successful transition into the sound era. In the silent films, Myrna would appear as an exotic femme fatale.

Rambova hired Loy for a small but showy role opposite Nita Naldi in What Price Beauty?, a film she was producing. Shot in May 1925, the film remained unreleased for three years; but stills of Loy in her exotic makeup and costume appeared in Motion Picture magazine and led to a contract with Warner Bros.
Rambova, however, was convinced Myrna had a future in pictures and cast her in a film she was herself directing, What Price Beauty, an odd and awkward fantasy film set in a beauty parlor that failed to find a distributor until four years later, in 1928, when it predictably flopped at the box office.
