Feb 5, 2024 · information about this edition. John Wycliffe organized the first complete translation of the Bible into Middle English in the 1380s. The translation from the Vulgate was a collaborative effort, and it is not clear which portions are actually Wycliffe's work.
Although translations of parts of the Bible into Anglo-Saxon existed hundreds of years before Wycliffe's translation, John Wycliffe is credited as being the first translation of the entire Bible (both Old and New Testaments) into English.
