The 16th arrondissement was created by the Law of 16 June 1859 which incorporated the former villages (now Parisian neighborhoods) of Auteuil, Passy and Chaillot into Paris; these villages had become communes after the French Revolution and had been in the Seine department ever since.
- Bois de Boulogne. The 16th arrondissement connects to a large forest on the west of Paris, known as the Bois de Boulogne, which has within in Jardin d’Acclimatation, and the Fondation Louis Vuitton.
- Fondation Louis Vuitton. Located in the Bois de Boulogne park on the edge of Paris, is the Louis Vuitton foundation. It is a private not-for-profit art museum that is run by LVMH, the luxury clothing brand.
- Jardin d’Acclimatation. If you want to visit a theme park but don’t want to invest the full day at Disneyland Paris or Parc Asterix, you can head out to Jardin d’Acclimatation in the 16th arrondissement, which is right on the metro line 1.
- Piscine Molitor. Piscine Molitor, a hotel and outdoor swimming pool complex built in 1929 with an art deco flair. It is a designated historic monument and today holds a 4-star hotel, including swimming pools, spa services, babysitting services and more.

- Musée de la Marine. Palais de Chaillot & fountains of Trocadero. The Trocadero is more than just a pretty viewing platform. In the two curved wings stretching out from the central plaza are some interesting museums.

- CineAqua – Aquarium de Paris. Who ever thought of this concept? Cinema plus an aquarium — together at last. This modern-idea of a fish tank is located in the gardens of the Trocadero and we have always found it interesting for both children and adults.

Mar 4, 2016 · Auteuil abolished serfdom in 1247, about a century before the neighboring parishes, and in the 16th century became a refuge for Protestants escaping the infamous St. Bartholomew’s Day massacres. After the revolution in the 18th century, Auteuil became a commune.
A 16th arrondissement must-see, the majestic Trocadéro gardens created in the 1930s offer a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower dominating the capital. The centrepiece of the gardens is the famous Warsaw fountain with 20 water cannons providing an enchanting water display on summer evenings.
