Yes it is. Season 1 is pretty much perfect and a complete story, except one cliffhanger. The other seasons are not as good nor necessary, but the first one is really worth watching.

Television shows aren't meant to climax on the last episode. Every show climaxes narratively 1-2 episodes prior to the finale. Climaxes don't wrap up a season. Watch breaking bad, climaxes several episodes before the finale. They need time to unravel the tension and bring it down.
