Nov 24, 2023 · The latest album to feature Dunn’s highly-touted basswork is Clapton’s own Behind the Sun, released earlier this year and the main reason for Clapton’s current tour. Dunn sat in on seven of the LP’s 11 tracks, most of which were produced by superstar vocalist Phil Collins.
While filming The Blues Brothers, Dunn used a sunburst early '70s Fender Precision bass with a rosewood fretboard and a "tortoiseshell" pickguard. He also used a red 1966 Precision in some of the scenes, a bass stamped "Demo" on the back, which was later fitted with a late '60s Jazz Bass neck.
Bassists Donald Duck Dunn from Booker T. & the MG’s and Nathan East from the smooth jazz quartet Fourplay also played on the sessions. In his autobiography, Clapton remembers the 1984 session pleasantly: “The whole thing is going so great, I hope it never stops.”

- Gimme Some Lovin’ Gimme Some Lovin’ was originally by the Spencer Davis Group in 1967 but the Blues Brothers turbo charged their version by adding a secondary riff in verse two which is covered in riff 3B.
- Shake A Tail Feather. This track was originally by the Five Duo Tones in 1963 and the Blues Brothers reinvented this song by collaborating with Ray Charles for the film.
Touch on the Duck Dunn signature model Fender Precision Bass. That was around 1998; it was a Japanese-made limited edition. It was Candy Apple Red with a maple neck.
