Gorcey married Josephine Condon (1897-1975) in 1914 and had 3 sons, Fred, Leo, and David, and a daughter, Audrey. On 31 August 1955, he crashed his car into a bus on 4th & LaBrea Avenue in Los Angeles. He died from his injuries on 11 September.
