Aug 5, 2015 · There is a fascinating vignette which occurred during a visit by my Rebbe, Rav Yitzchok Hutner, zt”l to his Rebbe, Rav Kook, the Chief Rav of Eretz Yisrael. Rav Hutner arrived in Chevron in the summer of 5685/1925 as a 19-year-old yeshiva bachur.

Apr 8, 2019 · During the same winter that the Epsteins were sure that R’ Avrohm would close a shidduch with their Zlateh, R’ Maishe became engaged to the well-to-do and pedigreed Chava-Leah, daughter of R’ Yehudah-Laib Hutner, a Motz in Warsaw who also owned a printing company.
In 1922, he married Chava Leah Hutner in Warsaw. Chava Leah died childless in February 1944, and Kook refused to remarry, remaining a widower until his death nearly 40 years later. From 1923, he served as the administrative director of the Mercaz HaRav yeshiva. After Harlap died in 1952, he became Rosh Yeshiva until his own death.

Nov 29, 2002 · One of his grandsons was R’ Yehoshua Hutner, executive director of the Encyclopedia Talmudit project. The latter’s sister, Chava Leah, was the wife of R’ Zvi Yehuda Kook. R’ Yitzchak Hutner, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Chaim Berlin in Brooklyn, also was a relative.
