Aug 2, 2023 · Longtime Ferrari owner and enthusiast Chuck Weiss passed away in late March of this year. He is best known in Ferrari circles for saving and resurrecting 375 MM s/n 0364 but he also raced(as co-driver to Ed Gelder) the 1957 Mille Miglia winning 315 S s/n 0684.
It took many years for a proper 375 MM engine to become available, and after joining the Ferrari Club of America and regularly staying informed, Weiss finally discovered 0436AM. According to many Ferrari enthusiasts, the motor was never officially fitted to any chassis.
The owner, former Ford suspension and handling engineer Chuck Weiss, conducted an exceptionally well-researched restoration in time for the Ferrari’s unveiling at the Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance in 1989.
In 1968, the V8-engined Ferrari was acquired by Chuck Weiss, who eventually managed to track down engine 0436AM, which had been built in period for Kimberley as a spare for this 375 MM. A Ford suspension and handling engineer by trade, Weiss himself completely restored the Ferrari during the 1980s.
