Nov 2, 2023 · Our principal donors. Our efforts are largely financed by money raised in Sweden. Allocation from Church membership fees, parish collections and fundraising activities, gifts and bequests from individuals fund much of the work carried out for a fairer, more just world.
Funding. Donations from Swedish individuals and congregations form a necessary part of our work. For every Swedish krona donated the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Sida, contributes additional funding. Diakonia also recieves funding for specific projects from the EU, embassies and other international organizations.

Every year, grants are awarded to Swedish schools and preschools in the Bay Area, the Church of Sweden in San Francisco, and a SWEA travel stipends to UC Berkeley undergraduate students who are planning to pursue studies in Sweden. Smaller grants are also awarded to various cultural groups and organizations with Swedish connections.
