[2] . Its beliefs are based on both the Old and New testaments of the bible, as well as the teachings of Marcus Garvey, self-reliance, Afrocentricity and Ethiopianism.

Before the Coptic Orthodox Church, the monastery was home to Benedictine sisters of the Byzantine Catholic Church. As the first Coptic monastery serving outside of Egypt.
