Roadster pick-ups are short on leg room, my goal was to preserve as much cockpit space as possible. The mid-60’s Ford 4-Speed Toploader fits under the flat floorboards, but the Hurst shifter needed a good dogleg to clear my leg.

For Dave Welles of Seabright Hot Rods and his ’28 Ford roadster pickup, it was a combination of all three. The project actually started out as a ’29 roadster that he inherited from his father. His dad built the hot rod in the ’60s and it was showing its age.
