This guide aims to identify best layout practices, make general recommendations, and eliminate redundancy, especially in the ordering and placement of talk page specific templates, such as { { Talk header }}, { { WikiProject banner shell }}, { { FAQ }}, and so on.
Many projects also use talk page banners to store assessments of the article's quality and importance to the WikiProject. Talk page banners that use {{ WPBannerMeta }} can add this functionality with relative ease using the instructions at Template:WPBannerMeta#Assessment .
Typically, they would be placed at the top of talk pages of articles or pages covered by the associated WikiProject. Instructions on how to create WikiProject banners can be found at {{WPBannerMeta}} and Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide/Technical notes § Advanced project banners.
