Ghosts of Mississippi (1996) is a movie I recently watched on HBOMAX and tells the tale of a white supremacist in Mississippi who one day grabs a rifle, drives down the street, gets out of his car for all to see, and shoots a black man in front of his wife and kids. He is found not guilt and released.
