Jan 30, 2019 · Hascal Taylor, a Buffalo businessman commissions the Chicago based architectural firm of Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan to build the “largest and best office building in the city”. They design a skyscraper with a steel framed construction, which is all new in 1895. They plan to wrap the steel frame in fireproof, decorative terra cotta.

L. Taylor, a local oil tycoon, bought the land with the dream of building the best office building in the country. Taylor died before they arrived to complete their plans and Guaranty Construction Company bought the project and was carried out between 1895 and 1896. The building became the highest in the city after its completion.
