  3. Allegheny High School was the first high school in the City of Allegheny. The first sessions at the school were held in a four-room frame building on Sherman Avenue in 1883. In 1889 a new structure (pictured here) was erected on the same site, and in 1904 an addition facing Arch Street was built.
