Oct 5, 2013 · There are several routes that you can take to get to the Kofel’s summit. We started at the Döttenbichl parking lot, near the Oberammergau Cemetery and then crossed the Kälberplatte meadow.
The Kofel is a 1,342-metre (4,403 ft) mountain in the Bavarian Alps of Germany. With its distinctive white head it is the signature mountain of the town of Oberammergau, from which the summit is only about one km away.
The Kofel is the landmark of the Passion Play village of Oberammergau and can be seen from everywhere in the village. The steep rocky peak can be reached in a relatively short mountain hike on a surprisingly easy, pleasantly shady path.
