Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige is a noted fan of the galaxy far, far away, to the point where he may be taking the whole damn thing over before long. At the very least, word has it that Feige will be producing a Star Wars film of his own. Of course, the MCU has a history of call-outs to the Star Wars franchise...

From AT-AT takedowns to dismembered limbs and beyond, here’s every Star Wars reference in the MCU that we could find...

As Steve Rogers is adjusting to his thawed-out life in the 2010s, he’s bombarded with suggestions of things he should check out or get caught up on, lest he be accused of living under a rock or inside of a frozen WWII plane for the last 66 years. And right up there with the Moon landing? Star Wars. Really, people, it’s just as important as the Moon...

If your ears perked up like mine did during the final battle between Scott Lang and Darren Cross, you’d have good reason. The sound effect used for the Yellowjacket suit’s lasers is the same used for the AT-ATs in The Empire Strikes Back.

During the blockbuster airport fight in Berlin, Peter Parker cites “that really old movie” The Empire Strikes Back as the inspiration for bringing down the currently-massive Ant-Man. Peter webs up Scott’s legs and, like an AT-AT in the snow, down he goes. Good thing no one was on standby to shoot him in the neck until he explodes.

Ned Leeds is introduced in Homecoming as he invites best friend Peter Parker to build a 3000-plus-piece LEGO Death Star with him, complete with a lightning-shooting Emperor Palpatine minifig. What follows is one of the most disturbing shots in cinematic history: That pristine build goes kaput as Ned drops the Death Star in surprise after Peter enters his bedroom in full Spidey gear.

Check out Tom Holland explaining why the Lego Death Star was his favorite prop in Spider-Man: Homecoming...

At one point in Spidey’s second solo MCU outing, Nick Fury sums up Peter’s anxiety about taking on Iron Man’s mantle as the world’s premiere superhero by using a famous line from Shakespeare’s Henry IV, Part II: “Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.” Mace Windu, er, Fury then tells Spidey he wouldn’t get it because it’s not a Star Wars refere...

It’s the curse of any sequel (or second phase, here) to be asked the following: How good of a sequel are you in relation to Empire Strikes Back? Are you darker and more complicated than the original? Do you have a down ending? How many limbs got lopped off during the runtime? The MCU’s Phase 2 is particularly focused on that last one, as every film therein features a character having an arm or hand severed:

Iron Man 3: During the final battle, faux-Mandarin Aldrich Killian gets the upper-hand on Tony, pinning him down and nearly melting through his suit with his fancy Extremis-fueled finger. Before he can, Tony reveals a blade in his armor and chops off Killian’s arm.

Thor: The Dark World: Thor and Loki attempt to trick the dark elf Malekith into thinking they’re at odds by having Loki cut off Thor’s hammer-swinging hand… well, an illusion of Thor’s hammer-swinging hand, anyway.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier: After HYDRA recovers Bucky from his seemingly-fatal fall from The First Avenger, they remove his left arm and replace it with a slick silver one capable of stopping Cap’s shield in mid-air without shattering a dozen bones. JP from Grandma’s Boy would be jealous.

Guardians of the Galaxy: During the climactic fight above Xandar, Gamora gets the upper han… advantage over Nebula, forcing her to hang from the edge of Ronan’s ship. Gamora gives her a chance to join the Guardians, but Nebula rain-checks that by severing her own (cybernetic) arm and falling right onto a ship, which she commandeers and uses to escape the planet.

Avengers: Age of Ultron: Arms dealer Ulysses Klaue learns the hard way that Ultron’s daddy issues run deep after pointing out the fact that Ultron has unknowingly quoted Tony Stark. In a fit of anger at the comparison, Ultron shears off Klaue’s arm, setting him up to receive his iconic (and handy) replacement sometime before the events of Black Panther. Guess he’s just an arm dealer now. "Ouch." Ant-Man: As villain Darren Cross corners Cassie Lang, Scott decides to sacrifice himself to the Quantum Realm in order to fit through the plates of Cross’ armor and destroy his suit. Though Scott is able to escape, Cross isn’t so lucky. He’s sucked into the Quantum Realm and the first body part to go? His right arm. Side note: I can’t believe I’ve mentioned Darren Cross twice in one article. Even most fan-fic about him only mentions his name once.
