James Wingfield Golucke (1865–1907), [1] often known as J.W. Golucke, was an American architect based in Atlanta, Georgia. [2] He worked alone and also within partnership Golucke & Stewart. On his own he designed about 15 courthouses in Georgia.
Jan 11, 2008 · J. W. Golucke was Georgia’s most prolific architect of county courthouses, building twenty-seven (two are attributed) in Georgia, as well as four in Alabama. Almost all were so substantially constructed and such noble additions to their towns that eighteen of the Georgia court buildings remain in use, and three others are still standing.
DeKalb County's fourth courthouse, built in 1916 and known today as the Old Courthouse, sits on the historic square in Decatur. A small park and bandstand surround the building, which today houses the DeKalb History Center. The courthouse, pictured in 2003, was designed by J. W. Golucke, the most prolific architect of Georgia courthouses.

The Neoclassical styled courthouse was designed by J. W. Golucke, an architect who specialized in designing county courthouses at the time.
