The now-defunct Sub Pop act Jale made quick work of shimmering, jangling indie pop. They were excellent songwriters, and their standard guitar, bass, and drums line-up transcended its inherent sonic limitations with simple yet elegant hooks and indelible, uncontrived charm -- two chief attractions that propelled them into the spotlight in the mid-to-late-1990s.
