JOURDAN Jean-Baptiste, later comte: married Jeanne Nicolas in Limoges on 22 January 1788 (she died in Limoges on 9 October 1840). They had five daughters: Angélique Catherine (1789 or 1791-Naples 7 March 1879); Camille died in 1842; Jeanne Madeleine Delphine (1797-1839); Sophie Catherine Victoire died in 1820; and Nina (1800-1833).

JEAN BAPTISTE JOURDAN, Count (1762-1833), marshal of France, was born at Limoges on the 29th of April 1762, and in his boyhood was apprenticed to a silk merchant of Lyons. In 1776 he enlisted in a French regiment to serve in the American War of Independence, and after being invalided in 1784 he married and set up in business at Limoges.
Jean-Baptiste Jourdan (1762-1833) was a French general who held significant commands in the French Revolutionary Wars (1792-1802) and the Napoleonic Wars (1803-1815). He won a major victory for the French Republic at the Battle of Fleurus in 1794 and was among the first 14 men to be appointed marshal of the empire by Napoleon I in 1804.
