Jerrold Immel, an L.A.-based composer, originally broke into television scoring on Gunsmoke in the mid-70s before creating the iconic Dallas theme. His success continued as he later composed the theme for spin-off Knots Landing which started in 1979 and ran for 14 seasons and 344 episodes of its own.
