On 23 Nov 2015, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong officially unveiled the new National Gallery Singapore, which is beautifully restored and transformed from the former Supreme Court and City Hall historical buildings into an exciting new visual arts venue that was 10 years in the making.
Consisting of modern and contemporary art, National Gallery Singapore focuses on displaying Singapore and Southeast Asian art from the 19th century to present day. It is home to two permanent galleries: the Singapore Gallery and the Southeast Asia Gallery.

The renovation and conservation of the former Supreme Court and City Hall buildings, which house the new museum, took four years, at an estimated cost of $530 million.
The National Museum's original building features a Neo-Palladian design, a European style of architecture characterised by a highly symmetrical façade and the use of pediments above windows. The use of pilasters and columns also reflects the building's incorporation of Neoclassical features.
