Richard Sammel (born 13 October 1960) is a German actor. He is best known to United States audiences for his role as Thomas Eichhorst in The Strain (2014–2017). He has appeared in more than 100 films and television series since 1991.

He is best known for playing Sgt. Werner Rachtman in Quentin Tarantino 's Inglourious Basterds (2009). He has appeared in more than 100 films and television series since 1991. In 2015 he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor on Television for The Strain in the 41st Saturn Awards, though he lost to Laurence Fishburne.
