Despite Jared's objections, Richard plows ahead with a scheme to plant "pineapples" at Hooli-Con to have attendees' phones download Pied Piper's new Internet app without the users knowing. Dinesh and Gilfoyle will do the actual planting while Richard is a lookout.
Hoover (Chris Williams) instantly spots Dinesh and Gilfoyle's suspicious activities, but Jack Barker (Stephen Tobolowsky) dismisses Hoover's concern as tinfoil hat nonsense, and does not authorize Hoover to pursue the assailants. Barker also takes the opportunity to insult Gavin Belson unprompted, which predictably will turn out to be a huge mistake.
Winnie (Bridey Elliott, from "Bachmanity Insanity") is working the PeaceFare booth. PeaceFare is a woke but ineffectual video game made by Winnie's new boyfriend, Joel (Flula Borg). Richard vandalizes Joel's screensaver, giving Hoover a valid reason to have a team sweep the conference hall for unauthorized devices.
The team quickly find all the pineapples and bring Dinesh, Gilfoyle, Jared and Richard to Hoover's security office. Richard braces himself for the worst. But he wasn't counting on that Hoover, still loyal to Gavin Belson and hurt by Jack Barker's comments against Belson, decides to let the Pied Piper team go and replant their pineapples.
The Pied Piper new Internet app is installed on more than 160,000 devices, but Jared is now too disillusioned by Richard's moral decay.
Jack Barker and Keenan Feldspar (Haley Joel Osment) demonstrate the new Hooli virtual reality (VR) app, but the whole thing goes sideways when the VR goggles injure the conference attendees. Gilfoyle wonders if the pineapples have anything to do with this massive failure.
