Sophie of Brunswick-Lüneburg (30 October 1563 – 14 January 1639) was a member of the House of Brunswick-Lüneburg and margravine of Brandenburg-Ansbach and Brandenburg-Kulmbach and Duchess of Krnov by marriage.

Sophie Amalie became Queen of Denmark in 1648. She was the daughter of Duke George of Brunswick-Lüneburg, and in 1643 she was married to Frederik (III).

Sophie Elisabeth, Duchess of Brunswick-Lüneburg (b Güstrow, 20 Aug. 1613; d Lüchow, 12 July 1676). German poet, librettist, and composer. She was a founder member of the renowned literary society the Fruchtbringende Gesellschaft.

This portrait is thought to be one of the last Honthorst painted for the Bohemian court. In 1658, Princess Sophia married Ernest Augustus of Brunswick-Lüneburg, thus becoming Duchess of Brunswick-Lüneburg and later Electress of Hanover. In 1701, she was declared heir to the British throne, to which her son succeeded as George I in 1714.
