It acquired its present name, Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, in acknowledgement of the munificence of Lord Sydenham, the then Governor of Bombay presidency, towards the growth and development of this premier educational institution. Nevertheless the borrowed premises did not remain its permanent address.
Established in 1913, Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics is one of oldest and most reputed colleges in India and has always been a unique educational institution for a reason that it has been the first Commerce College in the Asian Continent.
