A greedy trader steals a golden horned rhino from a young boy, so Handy and Clumsy help him rescue the rhino.

In Africa, the time-lost Smurfs landed on a broken bridge. Luckily, the Smurfs manage to get up, and then fall back down. The Smurfs yelp for help and in answer came a little boy and a rhino with a golden horn. The rhino's horn touched the rope, which became magically golden, making it stronger. The Smurfs climb to safety and thanked the little boy. The little boy was curious to know what the Smurfs were and Papa Smurf explained to him. Brainy rudely interrupted, announcing that they were lost, tired and hungry. Papa covered Brainy's mouth and continued the conversation. The little boy introduced himself as Prince Pricari and his rhino as Rahdu.

Pricari takes the Smurfs to his animal sanctuary, and he tells the Smurfs that he helps animals. Clumsy thinks that Pricari has a wonderful time riding rhinos. A cub named Cubby and a giraffe named Scratch shows up and likes Pricari, which Smurfette turns into a joke. Brainy was scared of Cubby and tries to hide behind Smurfette. Pricari calls out that his mother, Queen Ioka, is coming, and Pricari already knows that she is going to say that he needs to do his chores. Pricari must go and Handy offers to help.

•This is one of the final episodes of the series to air on NBC before its cancellation in 1990.

•Baby Smurf, Grouchy, Lazy, Vanity, Jokey, Wild, Sassette, Snappy, and Smoogle do not appear in this episode.

•As the Smurfs wish Prince Pricari good luck, Smoogle's waving arm is blue.

•When Handy says "This rope won't hold us long, Papa Smurf!", his voice matches Hefty's.
