Sep 3, 2017 · i've found the best way is to complete playthrough 2, then tackle the DLC. the Loot will be at your Level.
One easy way to get overleveled is to play the main story and then all the DLCs, and then start playthrough 2 and repeat everything - if you gain too much XP in the DLCs at the end of PT1, you may be overleveled as you start PT2.

The goal here is to be done with PT 1 at about level 32 - 35, depending on how many Lance and Guardians you can skirt past at the end. Playthrough 2. Playthrough 2 is really the keystone to everything subsequent. Think of PT 1 as the introduction, and PT 2 as the real meat of the game.
