Designed by architect Neel Reid, the station was built in 1918 as a commuter stop for Southern Railway. When Terminal Station closed in 1970, Peachtree Station became the only passenger station in Atlanta.

Feb 20, 2020 · Among nationally known railroads, the Central of Georgia had a low profile, but in fact it was a potent mid-20th century Class I carrier, with nearly 2,000 route miles, 4-8-2s and 4-8-4s on its roster, and, with Man o’ War and Nancy Hanks II, a pair of nifty streamliners. Its memory is well served by the Georgia State Railroad Museum.
