Nov 17, 2022 · Dr. Fangzhou Zhao has been awarded an “Outstanding Postdoctoral Researcher Award” by the Solid State Lighting and Energy Electronics Center (SSLEEC) for the work on Trap-Assisted Auger-Meitner recombination from first principles.
His graduate work consists of topological electronic and optical properties of graphene nanoribbons and carbon conjugated systems, as well as GW plus Bethe-Salpeter equation formalism to calculate excited state properties of materials.

Zhao was recognized for developing a first-principles computational formalism to calculate the rate of trap-assisted Auger-Meitner recombination.
