Alvin J. Hansen was born in Alexandria, Minnesota, on March 5, 1907, the son of Charles and Elsie (Felton) Hansen. He attended Alexandria Public Schools, grew to manhood and worked in the Alexandria area before entering the United States Army in which he served from 1942-1945.
