The August Wilson Theatre (formerly the Guild Theatre, ANTA Theatre, and Virginia Theatre) is a Broadway theater at 245 West 52nd Street in the Theater District of Midtown Manhattan in New York City. Opened in 1925, the theater was designed by C. Howard Crane and Kenneth Franzheim and was built for the Theatre Guild .
The August Wilson Theatre is in the heart of the Midtown Manhattan Theater District, close to attractions like Times Square and the Rockefeller Center. At the time of writing, its show in residence is the Broadway musical Cabaret – revived for 2024 with a new seating design including a mezzanine and turntable stage.
The August Wilson Theatre offers Wheelchair Accessible seating, Aisle Transfer seating, Companion seating, and Vision/Hearing Accessible seating. There is a Stair Lift that provides direct access from the front of the theatre to the Orchestra level.

The August Wilson is one of three Broadway theaters named after a Black artist; the other two are the James Earl Jones Theatre and Lena Horne Theatre. Built in the Italian-inspired style of many Broadway venues, the August Wilson Theatre is characterized by arches and columns around the auditorium.
On October 16, 2005, 14 days after American playwright August Wilson’s death, the theatre was renamed in his honor. Notable productions in this theatre include Our Town, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, On Your Toes, Carrie, City of Angels, My Fair Lady, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Little Shop of Horrors, and Jersey Boys.
