Baščaršija (Cyrillic: Башчаршија; pronounced [baʃ.tʃǎr.ʃi.ja]) is Sarajevo's old bazaar and the historical and cultural center of the city. Baščaršija was built in the 15th century when Isa-Beg Ishaković founded the city. Baščaršija is located on the north bank of the river Miljacka, in the municipality of Stari Grad.
Baščaršija je stara sarajevska čaršija, te povijesno i kulturno središte grada. Baščaršija je izgrađena u 15. stoljeću, kada je Isa-beg Isaković osnovao i cijeli grad. Riječ Baščaršija potječe od riječi "baš", koja na turskom znači "glavna", tako da Baščaršija znači "glavna čaršija".

Bey Mosque, together with mekteb, wudu inn, two octagonal mausoleums and the clock tower building is the central and largest complex of the “čaršija”, and has had a significant influence on all construction activities in the city. It is also the first mosque in the world to install electrical lighting.
Baščaršija (turski: baş + çarşı - "glavna čaršija") stara je sarajevska čaršija, naselje te historijski i kulturni centar grada. Baščaršija je izgrađena u 15. vijeku kad je Isa-beg Ishaković osnovao cijeli grad. Nalazi se na sjevernoj obali rijeke Miljacke, u općini Stari Grad Sarajevo.
Bascarsija is located on north Miljacka riverside, Old Town municipality. There are several important historical objects in Bascarsija, such as Gazi Husref-bey's mosque and Tower Clock. Today, Bascarsija is main tourist attraction of the city.
