Season 5.0 was the fifth televised season of BattleBots. It was the last of three seasons filmed at Treasure Island in San Francisco, and the final season of BattleBots to air on the Comedy Central network before its near thirteen-year absence from television screens.
Rules on walkerbots, shufflebots and changes to weight boundaries outside of that were upheld for Season 5.0. Also introduced for this season was BattleAnts - an untelevised bracket fought in a purpose-built arena between robots weighing up to 1lb.

For this season, the Top 30 robots were given seedings in their respective weight divisions. Rather than determine which bots would skip the preliminary rounds based on a previous win total, this was now done by win percentage from the three previous seasons. Unlike the main tournaments, the BattleAnts event was invite-only, consisting of sixteen robots in total and was made in collaboration with Chris Williamson of South Eastern Combat Robotics (S.E.C.R.). Another key member in the production of this event was S.E.C.R. founding member Marc DeVidts, whose company UI Productions was advertised on the arena floor.
These robots were too small to compete in the regular BattleBox, so an arena was made by Sozbots, ran by Peter Abrahamson, to accommodate them, even featuring a scaled-down Killsaw hazard and spikes around the outside. BattleAnts was judged by the eventual founder of RoboGames, Dave Calkins.
Only a handful of fights from the BattleAnts bracket are known, largely thanks to the reports from Team Toad.
Derek Young and Hoser'd won overall, defeating Pete Abrahamson's Oishi in the bracket final.

MowBee lost in Round 1, but its opponent is not known. It is possible that either it was beaten by another robot we know advanced to Round 2, such as finalists Hoser'd and Oishi, but this is unconfirmed.
•In three exhibition matches, presenter Bil Dwyer competed with his middleweight robot Evil Cheese Wedge.
•Season 5.0 was the only competition to feature 1lb BattleAnts robots.
