The show is based on forensic anthropology and forensic archaeology, with each episode focusing on an FBI case concerning the mystery behind human remains brought by FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) to the forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel).
Bones and Booth travel to Los Angeles to investigate a body found on a beach. The case leads them to call girls and plastic surgeons. Back in Washington, Hodgins and Goodman clash while authenticating the remains of an Iron Age warrior.
After returning to Washington, D.C., renowned forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan is called in by FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth to aid an FBI investigation involving a set of bones found hidden in a lake.
Sweets and his profile help Booth identify suspects, notably brilliant hacker Christopher Pelant and the omnipresent newspaper reporter Ezra Krane. Another murder follows and a highly original diversion crime. Bones meanwhile accepts to stay home and seriously considers Booth's ideas for a new home.
