Brandy Barber is a field reporter in San Francisco looking to get the big scoop on anything deemed a rewarding success. She was known to be vile and ridicule those that the public disliked, for starters when Adrian Monk shot Michael Kenworthy, who was dressed as Santa Claus, she made the claim...
In another part of the city, reporter Brandy Barber (Gina Philips) dubs Monk as "The Man Who Shot Santa Claus" in a broadcast, and he and Natalie start to get harassed everywhere they go. Meanwhile, Stottlemeyer and Disher interrogate Kenworthy about his conversations with his ex-cons, but Kenworthy soon kicks them out.
Before the interview, an anonymous caller telephones Brandy and tells her that he saw Monk burying something behind his apartment. Brandy and her cameraman go there late at night to dig it up, and find a piece of ivory, chipped off the handle of the gun that shot Santa.
