History. Bremen was platted and laid out in 1851. A large portion of the early settlers being natives of Germany caused the name Bremen to be selected. The Bremen Water Tower and Dietrich-Bowen House are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Geography
History. Incorporated in 1871, Bremen was founded by a group of German settlers who first named the community "New Bremen". As time progressed, the "New" was slowly omitted and the town became known as "Bremen". The first streets were paved with brick in 1913, some of which still exist today.

Dietrich-Bowen House, also known as Governor Bowen House, is a historic home located at Bremen, Marshall County, Indiana. It was built in 1900, and is a 2 + 1 ⁄ 2-story, Queen Anne style brick dwelling. It rests on a fieldstone foundation and has a truncated hipped roof with gable dormer.
