Sweet, a Texas native, graduated from Columbia University in 1991 with a B.A. in political science. From 1991 to 1993, Sweet was the directorate of operations for the Central Intelligence Agency. According to his biography on the Chertoff Group website, Sweet was involved in clandestine operations for the CIA.
Financial career
In 1994, Sweet began working as an investment banking analyst for Morgan Stanley; he moved to Goldman Sachs in 1996, initially working in Asia until becoming a vice president with the company.Sweet spent 10 years at Goldman Sachs, primarily working in Houston and in Hong Kong as an investment advisor.
