In "Jail Break", Peridot attempted to use her Gem Destabilizer to subdue Steven and was surprised by his apparent immunity to the effects of the device. In "Keeping It Together", she talks to Steven calmly with only a hint of fear (likely due to his connection with the Crystal Gems).
Peridot and Amethyst always had the most amicable relationship out of the full-gem Crystal Gems. They did go on to form the Shorty Squad after all. This episode was important for the fact that Peridot learned to take responsibility and to apologize.

Annoyed, Peridot tried to crush Steven with her giant stone gloves, but, much to her surprise, she was foiled by Garnet. A paranoid Peridot, still confused about the Gems's existence, tries to kill them, but Amethyst uses her whip to toss one of her stone gloves into the projection destroying it.

Technically, non-ferrous metals do still have a magnetic field (Hell, even things that aren't metal have magnetic fields), it's just a lot weaker than ferrous metals (At least as far as I know). If Peridot has Magneto levels of magnetic manipulation, then it's possible she could be lifting her by the gem. Reply reply.
