Don Murphy, the son of a rancher and horse trainer, was born in Stockton, California, and raised in Brentwood. He has known horses his entire life and has wanted nothing more than for them to be a part of him.
Returning to the horse industry after his military service, Murphy built a reputation as a skilled showman and trainer throughout the years. Specializing in reined cow horse and reining events, Murphy trained and showed 23 American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) world and reserve world champions.
