Cast. Diane and Jan Pol in 2019. Jan Pol was born on September 4, 1942, in Wateren, Netherlands. [5] He studied veterinary medicine at Utrecht University, graduating in 1970. He and his wife moved to Harbor Beach, Michigan, where Pol worked for a veterinarian for more than 10 years.
Helping animals and their humans is at the heart of Dr. Jan Pol’s mission. From age 12 when he delivered a litter of piglets on his family’s dairy farm in the Netherlands, Jan knew he wanted to become a veterinarian. In 1971, his dream came true as he immigrated to the United States to begin his veterinary career.
As the youngest of six children growing up in the Netherlands, Jan Pol lived among dairy cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, geese, turkeys, rabbits, dogs and Friesian horses. From age 12 when he helped deliver a litter of piglets on his family’s dairy farm, Jan knew he wanted to become a veterinarian.
Families have been mesmerized by Dr. Jan Pol’s ability to care for animals for over a decade through National Geographic’s The Incredible Dr. Pol. Now, he’s returning to his farm roots alongside his son Charles in The Incredible Pol Farm, which premiered January 6th on Nat Geo WILD.
