Sometimes I wonder how anyone could have thought a screenplay was funny enough to film. The script for "Drop Dead Gorgeous," on the other hand, must have been a funny read. Jul 23, 1999 · Featured review. 7/10. If you don't deserve it; you deceive to get it. This is a semi-hilarious mock documentary about a teen beauty contest in Minnesota. Anywhere from hilarious to ridiculous and all points in between. The only thing redeeming is Kirsten Dunst.

Despite its starry cast and subject matter, Drop Dead Gorgeous was far too weird to ever become a mainstream hit in 1999. Compare it to Miss Congeniality, which hit theaters a year later.
