The Porsche family (also known as Porsche–Piëch family) is a prominent Austrian-German family of industrialists descending from the German-Bohemian automotive pioneer Ferdinand Porsche. Its members control Porsche SE and have a majority voting right over Volkswagen AG, the largest automaker in the world.
Ferry Porsche's mother was Aloisia Johanna Kaes. He had an older sister, Louise Piëch, who was five years his senior. He was baptized Ferdinand Anton Ernst Porsche, with the name Ferdinand after his father, the name Anton after his grandfather, and the name Ernst after his uncle on his mother's side.

Ferdinand Anton Ernst "Ferry" Porsche was born in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, near Vienna, to Ferdinand and Aloysia Johanna (Kaes) Porsche. In 1923, the family moved to Stuttgart, Germany, where his father took a job with Daimler-Benz as a board member and technical director.

Ferdinand Porsche was born to Anna Porsche (née Ehrlich) and Anton Porsche, in Maffersdorf (Vratislavice nad Nisou) in northern Bohemia, part of Austria-Hungary at that time, and today part of the Czech Republic. Ferdinand was his parents' third child. His father was a master panel-beater.
